Meaning of the term

Colorectal Adenoma

An adenoma arises from gland-forming cells in the colon lining and is considered a precancerous lesion. Most adenomas do not become cancer, but risk increases with size, number and certain pathology features.

Why is it important? Endoscopic appearance alone cannot determine every lesion type, so complete removal and pathology are important for risk assessment.

Diagnosis and treatment Small adenomas are commonly removed with a snare, while larger lesions may need EMR, ESD or another advanced technique. Follow-up timing depends on number, size, pathology, resection completeness and examination quality.

Dr. Vosko has completed extensive specialization in the detection and removal of lesions, and possesses comprehensive mastery of the various endoscopic techniques required for performing both simple and complex resections.
